Advancing contact of a 2D elastic curved beam indented by a rigid pin with clearance

A two-dimensional analytical solution is presented for stresses and displacements in an elastic curved beam forming incomplete ring frictionless unbonded contact with a rigid pin loaded by point force the presence of clearance. The circular modeled as thick ring, constrained at both ends plane stress state. displacement fields within are derived from biharmonic Airy function, according to Michell polar coordinates. mixed boundary value problem reduced set dual series equations then non-homogeneous linear system infinite equations, which solved truncation. non-linear relations between applied load angle or pressure distribution obtained using inverse method. results compared finite element predictions pin-lug connection reasonable agreement observed several typical geometries. peaks von Mises equivalent their location evidenced.
